Paleo Recipes: Smoked Paleo Pizza

Do you like to eat delicious food? Do you like to eat healthy food? If your answer for both questions was yes, then you might be thinking that you cannot do both things at the same time. It is normal to think that way, since healthy food is not the most appealing word when we are hungry. However, you might be surprised about this fact: there is a diet that makes you lose weight and eat delicious at the same time. Which diet is that? The paleo diet using paleo recipes.

Have you ever heard of paleo recipes? They are very popular now. Something interesting about the paleo diet is that, more than a diet, is a way of living. Why do we say that? Because the paleo diet basically prevents you from eating certain kinds of food. Do you know why is it called the “paleo diet”? Because it only allows foods that existed or was available during the Paleolithic era. So, it is not allowed to eat grains, dairy, legumes, sugar and processed oils. Although those foods are not allowed, you will see that some people decide to make some exceptions sometimes. For example, when it comes to cook dessert paleo recipes, some people and even some sites, decide to break the recipe a little bit, and add dairy and sugar to them.

Although processed oils are not allowed, some people decide to use olive oil to prepare dressings. Does it sound too restrictive for you? Well, there are plenty of foods that you can eat. Do not worry if you cannot use olive oil or canola oil to cook, there are many options for you to cook. My favorite is coconut oil. Coconut oil tastes delicious and gives an amazing flavor to the food. Besides, did you know that coconut oil is the healthiest oil you can use to cook? If you do not want to use coconut oil, you can use ghee, that it is a substitute for butter.

I have cooked many paleo recipes and I have loved every single one of them. One recipe that I really enjoyed was a flour-less pizza I cooked. The dough was made with almond flour, coconut flour and egg. What gave this paleo recipe a very original flavor was that it was cooked in an electric smoker, smoked as it would be over an open fire in the Paleolithic era, but with the convenience and precision of an electric thermostat. I topped the pizza with egg, mushrooms, ham, tomatoes and parsley. It was absolutely delicious! Here is the recipe:

  • ¼ cup of tapioca flour to powder the dough.

  1. Mix all the dough ingredients until there are no crumbs.
  2. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the electric smoker to 225°F.
  4. Stretch the dough with a rolling pin or with your hands.
  5. Cut the stretched dough with a 4-inch cookie cutter.
  6. Beat the eggs with a fork.
  7. Pour the beaten eggs on the mini pizzas.
  8. Place the mini pizzas in the electric smoker for 45 minutes.
  9. Top the mini pizzas sliced tomato, mushrooms and ham.
  10. Decorate with parsley leaves.

I really enjoyed that paleo recipe because it is a pizza that you can eat at breakfast. Also, there are many seasonings you can use in order to give your food a delicious flavor. I really like to use thyme and rosemary in my paleo recipes. If you want to cook this recipe in an electric smoker you only have to preheat the smoker to 225°F and let the pizza cook for 45 minutes.

How much food can you eat? You need to be careful with this diet. If you are not balanced with the amounts of food, you can easily gain weight. Be careful with seeds, since they have a lot of calories. A good meal consists of a source of protein, a healthy fat, starch, and veggies. Try this paleo diet smoked pizza; it’s truly worth it.
